SIC Vol. 48 Masked Rider Gaoh and Kintaros Imagin Part 3: Kintaros

Kintaros Imagin Character Bio:

Big, Strong, hairy, and lovable. In all respects, Kintaros represents the lovable oaf of the Den-O party. Like all Imagin (a combination of “imagine” and “Jynn” or “genie”), Kintaros possesses the bodies of humans to fulfill a wish and earn the right to travel through time. He first shows up after possessing the body of a sick boy who wanted to do karate again. At the same time a rampaging Imagin is attacking innocent people to fulfill the wish of another boy. In order to fulfill the sick boy’s wish, Kintaros took over his body and gave him incredible strength. Unfortunately for the sick boy, Kintaros did not know karate at all, but tried his best to learn anyway. When the contracts of both boys were fulfilled, the evil Imagin went back into the past to destroy a certain time. Kintaros pursued the Imagin and saved the lives of both boys in the past, but at the cost of his own life. As his body crumbled away, the main character saves the kind-hearted Imagin by letting him enter his own body. The main character then was able to use Den-O’s Axe Form from then on.

There will be more about the character throughout the review, so lets get started!

The figure:
GAOH KINTAROS 41

GAOH KINTAROS 42
The figure stands at roughly 7 inches or so, and a little bit taller than Gaoh. Over the black base body are translucent pieces of yellow armor that reflect and play with the light in amazing effect. One thing to note is that there is no chogokin on this figure; he is plastic all throughout. One feature unique to Kintaros among SICs is that he has fur! Though it is a nice touch, BE CAREFUL! The fur will pull out if you touch it too much.

Articulation:

GAOH KINTAROS 43

Head and neck all the way up and back.

GAOH KINTAROS 44

The head and neck all the way down and forward.

GAOH KINTAROS 45

Extreme Head tilt

GAOH KINTAROS 46

Above, Kintaros’ right arm is lifted at the shoulder until it hits his shoulder guard. His left arm is turned such that the free floating shoulder guard is turned away to provide full clearance of his arm. The shoulder itself is on a ball-hinge-swivel joint, just like Gaoh.

GAOH KINTAROS 47

Because his vest and biceps are very large, it is difficult to get him to cross his arms. Above shows as far as you can get them. Note that the head is angled deeper than the extreme forward head visual shown previously. Here, the head joint was pulled slightly out of its socket to provide greater range of head articulation to emulate the trade mark sleeping pose.

GAOH KINTAROS 48

The vest is fully plastic, however, the stitched designs on his back simulate a real leather jacket and stitching.

GAOH KINTAROS 49

Torso fully back. Kintaros has a ball joint in his diaphragm and a double ball joint at the waist/hip.

GAOH KINTAROS 50

Full ab crunch. because he has many ball joints strung through his torso, a nice ab crunch is achieved.

GAOH KINTAROS 51

Fully flexed double hinge elbow joints and full splay of the legs. As you can see, the ankle rockers cannot accommodate for this extreme angle.

GAOH KINTAROS 52

The full double hinge knee joint bend. The above also shows the extreme forward of his right leg and extreme back wards motion of his left leg. Like Gaoh, his backwards leg articulation is hindered by the butt plate.

GAOH KINTAROS 52A

However, despite being such a bulky figure, Kintaros achieves incredible leg articulation.

GAOH KINTAROS 52B

The crossed legs mark a great achievement in toy articulation. If only we could have better shoulder range…

Accessories:

GAOH KINTAROS 53

Kintaros comes with a PLETHORA of hands. Two default fists, two splayed open hands, two “holding things” hand, two “sumo-style” open palms, one neck cracking right hand, and a ink brush weilding left hand.

With so many hand options, Kintaros is not without immense expressiveness.

Other Accessories:

The item accessories include Kintaros’ weapon of choice, the Kintaros Axe, various work out equipment, Ink writing set (including a brush, paper, and ink stone), Naomi’s special Den-Liner coffee and plate,  and the four items given to Ryotarou to fulfill Kintaros’ contract after wishing that he could stay with his fellow Imagins forever. The items include model of Kintaro of Japanese myth from which Kintaros was named, a momohiki (long underpants that Momotaros is often mispronounced as), Urataros’ turtle jelly, and Ryutaros’ bubble gun. In the episode, after Kintaros gives Ryotarou the items, he says behind fighting an endless hoard of evil Imagin as Ryotarou is forced to escape. Manly tears, everyone… NAKERUDE!

Kintaros Axe:

Dynamic Chop! Because the axe is made of plastic and not metal, Kintaros can easily wield the axe in a variety of poses.

And that’s it for Kintaros. All that is left is the photo reel.
