SIC Vol. 11 Kikaider and Side Machine Part 4: Side Machine

KIKAIDER 37

Side machine comes in two main parts; the motor cycle and the side car.

KIKAIDER 38

Side view of the motor cycle. The hole below the back tire and the hole in the engine are where the side car inserts into the main bike with two metal pegs.

KIKAIDER 39

The rear of the main bike.

KIKAIDER 40

The front of the main bike.

KIKAIDER 41

Lots of details here on the top of the body of the main bike. Although there is a hole there which looks like it holds something… it does not.

KIKAIDER 42

The front of the bike displaying Kikaider’s emblem.

KIKAIDER 43

Bottom of the main bike.

KIKAIDER 44

Side view of the… side car.

KIKAIDER 45

Back of the side car.

KIKAIDER 46

Back side of the side car from another angle.

KIKAIDER 47

More details of DAT EXHAUST.

KIKAIDER 48

The side car has a nice gimmick of opening.

KIKAIDER 49

The hinge here, opens the port up. However BE CAREFUL. soon after this review, the hinge broke into a million pieces. The metal pins holding the fragile plastic together must have expanded from rust or heat. After the hinge broke off, however, the cover still sticks back into place with slots that go into the main frame of the side car.

KIKAIDER 50

The inside “seat” of the side car.

KIKAIDER 51

The bottom of the side car. Printed with “Copyright, Isimori-pro- Toei, Bandai 2001, Made in China, 78967” and the plastic mold time-stamp.

KIKAIDER 52

Size comparison with Double Machine.

KIKAIDER 53

Size comparison with Shiroikarasu (White Crow, Hakaider’s Bike).

KIKAIDER 54

Using the closed fist, you can slot the hand into the bike handle.

KIKAIDER 55

Alternatively, you can use the slightly open hands to provide a less secure, but more natural/relaxed grip on the handles.

KIKAIDER 56

Fitting the figure onto the bike is easy, but Kikaider’s limited upward head/neck articulation hinders him from looking up and straight in the direction of the front of the bike.

KIKAIDER 57

It is also near impossible to fit Kikaider’s legs snugly into the leg ports below.

KIKAIDER 58

You may have to simply settle for having his legs dangle as pictured above.

KIKAIDER 59
Kikaider does have a nice relaxed seating pose as above. This is my preferred seated position when I display him.

Next up is the end of the review with a quick photo reel!
